What makes the Showcase Swatches cards so cool is that they are put together with different layers of an acetate material, giving it the shadowbox effect. The background of this card features a gigantic piece of off-white fabric from a Crosby-worn Penguins jersey. There is also a shadowed player image on the inside of the card, which works out great on lighter fabrics. This actually is the one case when a white jersey swatch would be favorable to a dork-colored one, as you probably wouldn't see Crosby's background image at all with a back jersey swatch.
The purpose of this blog is two-fold: 1, to meet my fellow collectors and trade a few cards, and 2, to brag about all of the amazing hardware I've been able to get my greedy little hands on.

2012-13 Panini Prime Sidney Crosby Showcase Swatches /25
My most recent Sidney Crosby acquisition centers around one card type the I have grown to love: the shadowbox. This one in particular is a Showcase Swatches card from 2012-13 Panini Prime, and is numbered 12/25.
