2010-11 Luxury Suite Group Break: The Results

After all the waiting, the two boxes of Luxury Suite are HERE!!!  So, without further ado, here is the video:

Well, there you have it. I wish that the hits were a bit more evenly dispersed, but with so few cards, sometimes that gets to be difficult. For the two participants who did not get a hit, I will include some from my own collection, to make sure each person goes away with at least one autograph and one relic. I hope that everyone, at the very least, is satisfied with that. I went ahead and scanned in each card, sorting them out by person, including the four cards that I added in from my own collection to the hit-less participants.

Well, I hope you all enjoyed the break. Sorry it got so light for a couple of you, but hopefully, the additions will help make up for that. I hope to do more sometime soon. I REALLY want to get an active hockey card blogging community, and hopefully, doing events like these will help get people excited about it.

One more thing, I NEED all of you to e-mail me your mailing addresses. Send them to matt-pederson@hotmail.com. I'll try get these out as soon as I possibly can.

Thank you all SO MUCH for your participation, and I hope to see you all at the next one I do!

Luxury Suite Group Break: They're HEEEEEEEEERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, everybody. I just now (at 6:30 p.m. CST) got the package from UPS and will get everything opened, recorded and posted tonight. Due to the fact that there are two little girls at this house that need to be fed and put to bed, I don't know how early it will all be up, but I'm going to make this happen! Keep checking in!

Luxury Suite Group Break Update

Just wanted to keep everyone posted on the group break. It looks like the cards are going to be delivered on Monday. I was hoping to have it all done this weekend, but it looks like we'll all have to wait a few days longer. I will TRY do have it all up on Monday, but between work, spending time with the family, recording the break, uploading the video, and writing the post, I may or may not have it up Monday night. I will try my best to make it happen, though.

See you then!

Luxury Suite Group Break: Randomized Teams

Hey everyone! Great news. With all of the payments in as of yesterday, I placed the order this evening, so I hope to have it in my possession, busted, and posted some time this weekend.

Anyway, for the additional teams. Each of us will basically receive four teams. I am using random.org to generate the order that the participants will fall with the respective teams. Since there are 23 remaining teams, I had to double up on a couple, so I put together some "lower" teams that don't have much of a presence in this product by pairing up Atlanta & Phoenix (old Jets & new Jets) and Dallas & Minnesota (old North Stars and "new" North Stars). Instead of randomizing just once and repeating the order, I will randomize the list three times, to better disperse the teams.

Anyway, I'll start by putting each person's name in the randomizer in the order of sign-up, click "random three times for the first seven, three more times for the second seven, and three for the third seven.

Here's how it ended up:

First 7:
There were 7 items in your list. Here they are in random order:
  1. Dave H
  2. Matt Pederson
  3. Robert
  4. Commishbob

Group Break Sign-Ups: 2010-11 Panini Luxury Suite

Okay, let's get a hockey group break going!!!

After testing the waters and gauging potential interest, I have decided to go forward with a group break of one of my FAVORITE Products over the last two years: 2010-2011 Panini Luxury Suite.

This is a semi-high-end product, with each pack containing three cards: two autos or relics and one serial-numbered rookie card. Each box contains four packs, making it an eight-hit box!

Each team will cost $35, and as I mentioned in my previous post, I have two options for the breakdown, depending on how many sign ups I can get.

Option 1: If I can get 7 participants, I would be able to purchase two boxes, which would total SIXTEEN hits. At seven participants, that would mean each breaker would get FOUR teams. Of course, that would leave two teams left over. In this case, I would leave out some of the teams with a lower presence (like Minnesota, Florida, etc.) and random off those hits, or combine them with another "lesser team" for a two team slot, if that makes sense.

Option 2: If I can get 10 participants, I would be able to purchase three boxes, which would total TWENTY-FOUR hits. Doing the math, that would give each breaker three teams. Granted, it would be less teams per person, but at ten participants, most of the high-dollar teams would be claimed at that point anyway.

For the un-picked teams, in either option, I will disperse them this way. First, I will list the remaining teams alphabetically by city. Then, I will use random.org to randomize the names of the participants and use that order to assign the teams down the list. For example, after randomization, the person's name who comes up first would get Anaheim, second gets Atlanta, etc. as long as those teams were not picked originally.

And if anyone does not receive a hit (auto or relic) out of the boxes, I will throw in one from my own collection, to make sure that everybody leaves with something.

Each slot is $35 and will allow you to pick one team. Payment can be made as a gift to matt-pederson(AT)hotmail(DOT)com. Please make the payment ASAP.

The product contains hits from all of the current stars, as well as autographed ROOKIE patch cards of players like Tyler Seguin, Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, Jeff Skinner, and much more. Here's a few examples of the types of cards we might find:
