Group Break Results Part 3: 2013-14 Rookie Anthology

The Last box in the break brings us to 2013-14 Rookie Anthology. Most of the hits from this product are updated versions of previous releases, which is especially handy for early-season products that came out too early for some of the top 2013-14 rookies like Nathan MacKinnon, Seth Jones, Tomas Hertl, and others. Rookie Anthology contains ten packs of 5 cards, and promises four hits, including one autograph, but pretty much every box I have seen opened has had 5 or 6.

So let's get to it:

Here are the scans:

Score: Jarome Iginla (BOS), Stephen Weiss (DET), Clarke MacArthur (OTT), Tyler Pitlick (EDM), Johan Larsson (BUF), Radko Gudas (TB), Johan Gustafsson (MIN), John Gibson (ANA), Bobby Ryan Gold Parallel (OTT)

Group Break Results Part 2: 2013-14 Enforcers II

Enforcers II isn't a product that gives us a whole lot of numbers, but man, does it deliver in content. For a pretty low price, one box of In the Game's "toughest" product with give us four autographed cards, three memorabilia cards, and five base cards.

Here's the video, with scans to follow:

Here are the scans, with each card designated as to which team it went to. For those cards with two teams, I used a randomizer to pick the assigned team, in the same way I did the second and third teams of the break:

Tale of the Tape: Lanny McDonald & Dennis Polonich (TOR)
League Leaders: Gino Odjick (VAN)
Bloody Battles: Kruse vs. Langdon (NYR)
Bloody Battles: Downey vs. Fedoruk (DET)
Tag Teams: Louie DeBrusk & Dennis Bonvie (EDM)

Rocky Thompson Game-Used Jersey (FLA)
Aaron Downey Game-Used Jersey (DAL)
Combatants: Sean Brown & Brad May (VAN)

Larry Playfair Autograph (BUF)
Scott Parker Autograph (SJ)
Brent Severyn Autograph (COL)
Kevin Kaminski Autograph (WSH)

Stay tuned tomorrow for the conclusion of the break, as we open up a box of 2013-14 Rookie Anthology.

Group Break Results Part 1: 2013-14 Totally Certified

The boxes arrived this afternoon safe and sound, so let's get crackin'!!!

The first box will be 2013-14Totally Certified. It was a mid-season release, which is good, because it means that cards from this season's rookie class will be included. Each box will contain 4 packs of 5 cards. Of those 5, there will be (on average) 3 base cards, 1 rookie or parallel, and 1 autograph or memorabilia card.

So without further ado, let's get to it:

And here are the scans:

Rookies: Ryan Spooner, Ryan Murray, Dmitrij Jaskin, Stefan Matteau

Patrick Kane Ruby Red Parallel 30/100

Scott Laughton Autograph, Rookie Roll Call Jersey

Nathan Beaulieu Rookie Roll Call Jersey

Antoine Roussel Autograph

Dave Andreychuk Gold Parallel Jersey Patch 18/25

I'll be back tomorrow with 2013-14 ITG Enforcers II.

Group Break Update: Randomized Second and Third Teams

With the boxes on order, it's time to get those other teams assigned. As I mentioned with sign-ups, each slot is good for three teams. One you pick, and the other two will be assigned at random. There were ten slots at the break, and since eight were picked, I'll be taking the remaining two.

Here's a look at the claimed teams:

1. Matt Pederson - Pittsburgh Penguins (PAID)
2. Buckstorecards - Boston Bruins (PAID)
3. Play at the Plate - Dallas Stars (PAID)

5. Commishbob - New York Rangers (PAID)

7. Joel Hatcher - Calgary Flames
8. Justin G. - Tampa Bay Lightning (PAID)
9. Matt Pederson - Minnesota Wild (PAID)
10. Matt Pederson - Los Angeles Kings (PAID)

The rest of the teams will be assigned this way: The 10 slots will be placed in the randomizer at random.org and randomized three times. The teams will be assigned in that order for the first 10, and in reverse order for the second 10. So, without further ado, here we go:

Random 1:

Group Break Update: Last Call for Entries, Boxes Ordered

For anyone who hasn't jumped on it yet, there are still teams available for my upcoming group break. I'll be busting open one box each of 2013-14 Rookie Anthology, 2013-14 Enforcers II, and 2013-14 Select. Entries are just $20 and will include one team you pick, plus two other randomed teams, for a total of three! Follow THIS LINK for the official sign-ups. I'm going to cut off the entries at 9 p.m. CST tonight & will randomize the second and third teams at that point.

If you need any extra motivation, here are a few of the great cards I have personally pulled from the Select and Rookie Anthology boxes I have opened this season:

For those of you who have already signed up, I placed the order for the boxes last night. It should ship today, with a UPS 3-Day shipping. So, depending on what UPS considers to be "Day 1," they should arrive at my place either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Hockey Group Break Sign-Ups

Hey everybody. It's been a LONG time (over a year and a half) I did my last group break, and I'm really wanting to do another. While past breaks had included older products in order to keep the cost down, I found some amazing deals on CURRENT releases, which is pretty great.

Here are the three boxes I will be busting this time around:

2013-14 Rookie Anthology
This product contains a guaranteed four hits. Of those, one will be a Rookie Treasures card, which features an autograph and two pieces of memorabilia. There will also be at least one additional autograph, as well. The box contains 10 packs of 5 cards, so we'll be getting a few base cars from here as well. The big draw with Rookie Anthology is that while it is a stand-alone base set, the hits (with the exception of Rookie Treasures) are all continuations of previous releases. It comes into play especially with early-season releases that came out too early to include some of this year's top rookies, like Mathan MacKinnon, Seth Jones, and Tomas Hertl.

2013-14 ITG Enforcers II
This is a one-pack product from In the Game that features SEVEN hits. The product focuses on the game's toughest players from throughout its history. Each box/pack contains four autographed cards, three memorabilia cards, and five base cards. Some of the memorabilia cards could be Instigator cards, Combatants cards, or Tough Franchise quadruple memorabilia cards.

2013-14 Totally Certified
This is a four-pack box of hockey cards, with a guarantee of one autograph or memorabilia card and one rookie card in each pack. There are also plenty of parallels, with reds, blues, golds and greens serial-numbered to 25, 10, 5 and 1. While they don't officially guarantee this, every box I have seen opened has had at least one autographed jersey rookie card.

That makes it a grand total of THIRTEEN guaranteed hits to come from these three boxes.

I hope some of that interests you.

Here are some of the stipulations:

-There will be 10 slots for this break. Each slot will cost $20, and will include the team you pick, as well as a second and third randomized team. Judging by my past breaks, it has been much easier for me to fill 10 slots than 15, so I'm trimming down the number of participants, while increasing the amount of teams one slot will buy you.
-For the un-picked teams, I will disperse them this way. First, I will list the remaining teams alphabetically by city. Then, I will use random.org to randomize the names of the participants and use that order to assign the teams down the list for the first ten. For the second ten, they will be assigned with the list of participants in reverse order of the randomization. For example, after randomization, the person's name who comes up first would get Anaheim, second gets Boston, etc. as long as those teams were not picked originally.
-Now, all three of these products focus primarily on the hits, so there will be a relatively few base cards to pad the envelopes. However, to make up for that, I will guarantee a hit for EVERY slot that is purchased. If a participant does not get an autographed or memorabilia card from any of these three boxes, I will throw one in from my own collection, so that everybody will be going away with something.
-Enforcers II is an unlicensed product, so with each card, it will go to the team whose jersey is being worn by the player in the photograph on the front of the card. I believe in the case of the memorabilia cards, ITG does identify on the back of the card which team the jersey was taken from, so of course, it would go to that team. If for whatever reason, the picture on the front doesn't match the team identified by the jersey swatch on the back, it will go to the team that the swatch itself comes from.
-Any card with a player from a team that has since moved, will go to wherever that team moved to. For example, Quebec Nordiques will go to the Colorado Avalanche, Atlanta Flames will go to the Calgary Flames, K.C. Scouts will go to the New Jersey Devils, etc. In the case of the Winnipeg Jets, any cards of the original Jets will go to the Phoenix Coyotes, since that is where the franchise moved to, and any cards of the Atlanta Thrashers and the current Jets will go to the Winnipeg Jets slot.
-Any cards featuring players from multiple teams will be randomed off using random.org. Any hits will be done on video immediately after the box is opened, by listing the applicable teams and randomizing the list 3 times.
-I hope that all made sense.

Payment
Make your payment of $20 to matt-pederson@hotmail.com. I need payments immediately, as the sale prices of these boxes are limited to a certain quantity, so I need to order them quick.

Hockey Group Break Announcement Coming Monday

It's been over a year and a half since I last did a group break, and I'm itching to do another. I'm putting together a product line-up of (mostly) this year's products, and I'm pretty excited about what's to come. There are plenty of affordable products out that provide some serious bang for your buck, with the potential for some pretty amazing cards.

I won't be taking any teams until I post the announcement Monday morning. I just wanted to let you all know to keep an eye open for it.
