An Awesome Penguins Patch Card - Simon Despres & Jordan Staal

After doing some big time trolling on Ebay, I came across a pretty impressive patch card at a fantastic price. This one is from 2011-12 Panini Prime and features defenseman Simon Despres and center Jordan Staal and is serial numbered 12/50. Despres's relics are two nice looking patches, which show plenty of colors and seams, while Staal's features the light blue and white striping from their third sweater, which they debuted at the 2010 Winter Classic.

Staal was a big part of the Penguins franchise, helping them to a Stanley Cup win in 2009. This past offseason, the Penguins tried to sign him to a contract extension, but he declined. After being traded to the Carolina Hurricanes to play with his brother Eric, he immediately signed a 10-year extension with his new team.

Despres is proving to be one of Pittsburgh's bright young prospects, and was the Penguins' first round pick in 2009 (30th overall). He made his NHL debut on December 1, 2011, and tallied his first career point with and assist on a Chris Kunitz goal. He finished the season with 1 goal and 3 assists in 18 games.
