Here's a couple cards I bought simply because the price was too good to pass up. For just five bucks a piece, I was able to pick up two autographed jersey cards from 2012-13 SP Game Used Edition, which I think was a pretty good deal.
The first one is Cory Schneider (19/99), whose name has been floating around for the last year and a half or so, as one half of Vancouver's goaltending controversy. He and Roberto Luongo were battling for the starting spot, with Vancouver pinning their future on Schneider, while being stuck with Luongo's lengthy contract. Vancouver's priorities must have changed, though, as the team traded Schneider at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft to the New Jersey Devils, where he goes from being the heir apparent to Roberto Luongo, to becoming the heir apparent to Martin Brodeur.
Secondly, I also picked up a Milan Hejduk (48/50), who has been a mainstay with Colorado ever since entering the league in 1998-99, and with Tim Thomas on hiatus, I believe he was the last active to have been drafted by the Quebec Nordiques. Hejduk, won the Rocket Richard Trophy in 2003, a Stanley Cup in 2001, and was named to the NHL's All-Rookie Team in 1999. He was the team's captain before Gabriel Landeskog was given that honor before the 2012-13 season, and after the Avalanche did not offer him a new contract this past off-season, Hejduk is currently an unrestricted free agent.
Both of these cards are up for trade, so if anyone is interested, please let me know. If I have no takers, however, I have absolutely no problem keeping them in my collection.
The Canucks going with Luongo is more a sign of how crappy of a contract they have with the guy than the talent. Schneider will do great out in Jersey.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I figured. There was way too much talk of him being shipped off & when nothing happened, they had no other choice.
DeleteI'd love to have that Hejduk for my 2/14 collection. I'll see if I can knock some stuff of your set needs or HOF relic lists at the the shows I'm planning on hitting.
ReplyDeleteSounds good. I'll send it out to you.
