I picked up a really cool card off of Ebay to add to my Chicago Cubs collection. This one is a Ryne Sandberg bat relic from 2013 Topps Tribute, numbered 20/99. Like most Tribute cards of years past, there is a heavy amount of shine on the front, and the relic piece is well-framed and spotlighted
right in the middle of the card.
The back of the card, as usual, congratulates the pack-breaker on the fantastic pull. I guess I'll take the congratulations on how I bought a hit out of a $50 pack for just 10 bucks. There's also the customary career highlights, which include where he ranks on the franchise's stats rankings.
After experimenting last year with having the Tribute hits coming inside the packs already in one-touch magnetic card holders, they apparently abandoned the practice this year. There are two questions, though. One, why did they decide to abandon that practice, and two, why did they even do it in the first place?
