Trade/Group Break Loot from JABOs

After an INCREDIBLY successful trip to the LCS, which I posted on yesterday, I was pleased to find a manilla envelope in my Mailbox from Kyle at Juuust A Bit Outside. We had just completed a 1-for-1 trade, but this also contained the results of a recent group break.

I received this Roy Oswalt from 2009 SP Legendary Cuts in exchange for a Justin Upton jersey card from Upper Deck Spectrum. As a Houston transplant, I still have love for the future AL West basement dwellers, and while I enjoyed watching him pitch in Minute Maid Park, I always remember the time my wife & I went to Razoo's Cajun restaurant in Houston and had a waiter who looked EXACTLY like Oswalt. Obviously, it wasn't him, but the resemblance was uncanny.

I'm not sure if this was part of the group break or not, or if he just had one laying around, but Kyle also included one of those framed jersey pieces and card that you get from those "value packs" at Target or WalMart or Toys R Us or wherever. Despite Kyle's explicit "DO NOT BEND" instructions on the envelope, the USPS bent it, hence the giant crease towards the top. It's still a cool piece, though, that I will proudly be displaying somewhere in the man cave.

The break itself consisted of 2003 Bazooka, 2008 SP Authentic, 2003 Flair, and 2005 Topps Chrome. Here are a few examples of those cards.

That's all for now. Thanks for the trade, Kyle. I'm sure we'll be doing more real soon.

  1. Dang it!!! I put extra cardboard around that Prior. I HATE THE USPS. (Probably just made the terrorist list with that comment).

Sorry the card arrived damaged, I wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it. Its harder to appreciate a bent card.

Thanks for being in the break!

    1. I think I'm the only collector left who still appreciates a Mark Prior relic.

  2. It's hard to trust that many different hands on your parcel.

    Wait... that sounded terrible.

What I mean to say is it's a wonder that mishandled packages don't result in more card damage. It's amazing what gets by in a PWE, but something that's super well protected gets ruined.
