Card Draft Loot from Jaybarkerfan's Junk

Not too long ago, I participated in a card draft on Jaybarkerfan's Junk and recently received the goods in the mail. Thirty cards were picked in total, so I won't go into every single one I picked, but my 1 and 2 were especially cool.

Pick number one went to a very "well-loved" Andre Dawson rookie from 1977 Topps. My philosophy has always been, if it's older than me, I can forgive some conditioning flaws, plus, this is a really cool card to have. The Hawk is a hall-of-famer and was a huge deal for the Cubs when I first began following the team, so this is a VERY welcome addition to my collection.

Pick number two for me was another no-brainer. As a Cubs fan, and especially as a Starlin Castro fan, I was all over his Bowman Chrome rookie from 2010. It's one of the only cards from that year of his that I didn't have, and was very happy there were no other Cubs fans in the draft.

As if the 30 cards in the draft weren't enough, Wes also included an added bonus for the participants from their favorite team. My addition was an autographed card of Scott Bullett from 1996 Leaf. After jumping on the Dawson and Castro, all of the hits were spoken for by round three, so it sure was nice to see an on-card autograph in the package.

A cool thing Wes is doing now is a "Send Me Your Vintage" feature on his blog. Basically, he posts a couple of relics/autos from his collection, and the first person to claim them will send him a vintage card/cards in exchange. It's a pretty cool idea, and he still has two relics and a printing plate unclaimed, so go check it out.

  1. Glad you enjoyed the draft Matt and thanks for the plug! Can't believe there's not a DBacks fan that will take a 1 of 1 off my hands.
